Alpacas are members of the camelide family native to the harsh and extreme South American Andean mountain ranges. The wool is extraordinary with its highly insular quality while being lightweight and breathable. Alpaca wool wares well as it does not pile easily and maintains a silky shine.

Alpacas grow naturally in some 40 shades from ivory to black, with all the grays and browns in between, the wool dyes to glorious color as well. The first clip of the shearling alpaca is referred to as baby alpaca. It provides the most prized soft and featherweight wool.
